Hey guys, just wanted to let you all know that me and the LFS-Runit team have opened our public repository over at:
https://code.google.com/p/runit-for-lfs/
Our goal is LFS, at this time, but we'd like to try and get full script sets out for other distributions as well to benefit from Runit as a stand-alone init and service supervision suite to succeed sysvinit/bsdinit implementations. We feel successor is better than replacement, which is the wrong notation, in our opinion, as sysvinit and bsdinit still work.
To us, successor means to take over from, and improve upon with a next generation while acknowledging the forerunner and striving to continually improve things.
A replacement is something to replace a faulty or broken part. Sysvinit, in our any many others' opinions, was not broken.
If any of you would like to help and contribute feel free to do so... cuz we need as much as we can get...
We still have many scripts to test, debug, check, create, etc. and we could use some help. The Issues page should be able to track and collect any submissions on the project (we're kinda learning this as we go).
If you see an error, poor code, bad commands, a misplaced command, or want to contribute a script, feel free to do so. Our doors are open.
Our work is licensed under the MIT License (we feel it's less restrictive than GPL) so feel free to use our work even if you don't contribute back, though any contributions back would help.
Many thanks,
Jim
